Davy Jones

It was very sad to hear that Davy Jones had died yesterday. Like most kids in the 1960s, I loved the Monkees. It's funny, I don't remember the show being on tv when we lived in Singapore and Malaya between 1965 and 1968 but I do remember the songs being played on the radio.
'I'm a Believer' particularly reminds me of playing in the arcade at Sandycroft in Penang, it was always on in the background.
There are many songs that remind me of our three years spent there but this one does  the most!

  1. Ah Derek,
The Monkees remind me of fresh, breezy days when I was monkeying around in Singapore on my Vespa-pa-pa-pa!

I don't know about you but I was a day-dream believer too. But day-dreaming on a scooter then wasn't as dangerous. Now it's a different ball game.

    Cheers.

  2. I remember this show was shown around 6-something or 7 in the evening. It was in black and white of course.

  3. The other song I remember was .... "Take the last train to Clarksville, and I'll meet you at the station,,,, "

  4. Yes I too was saddened when I heard that Davy Jones had passed away as "Daydream believer" was the first (single) record I bought (for about 5c I think) whilst living in Singapore in the mid 60's.
